Front Counter Clerk - RCMP at City of Burnaby

Salary: $29.48 – 30.70 – 31.97 – 33.25 – 34.63/hour (2024 Rates)
Schedule: 48 hours bi-weekly (0.60 FTE); Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

This position works in the Police – Court Services organizational unit. This is clerical work of some variety and complexity involving the provision of information and assistance to a variety of contacts. The Front Counter Clerk is responsible for ensuring quality control of I-Book entries in the Burnaby RCMP Detachment, ensuring that I-Book entries are accurate and up to date. An employee in a position of this class operates CPIC and other related RCMP computer applications to retrieve and record information and performs a variety of related clerical tasks. Working under minimal supervision, the successful candidate exercises considerable independent judgment and action within defined limits, referring only specific enquiries or unusual problems to an RCMP member. A supervisor reviews work performance in terms of conformance with established policies and procedures and efficiency in serving the department and the public. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial courses and typing or word processing courses and RCMP computer operator's courses plus sound related experience, preferably in an RCMP detachment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the policies, procedures, rules and regulations applicable to the work performed. Sound knowledge of modern office methods and procedures, record keeping and of computer operation as it relates to the work. Working knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada as it applies to the work performed. Ability to deal effectively with external agencies such as Police Officers, Crown Counsel and Court Workers. Ability to process requests for criminal record searches and take fingerprints. Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of files, records, statistics and reports. Ability to type with speed and accuracy of 45 w.p.m. and to operate CPIC and other related RCMP computer applications. You will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance.
