POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager, Community Engagement, Philanthropy, and Fund Development (MCEPFD) is a results-driven
fundraising professional dedicated to diversifying and expanding the CMHA-CVB’s revenue streams. Under the
direcHon of the ExecuHve Director, the Manager, CEPFD leads the design and execuHon of a comprehensive
fundraising strategy, provides strategic leadership, and proacHvely culHvates partnerships and coordinates
campaigns, events, and legacy giving programs. The Manager, CEPFD fosters a culture of engagement, working
alongside volunteers and peers to strengthen grassroots and community connecHons, and exceed fundraising
targets of $250,000 annually while ensuring all efforts align with CMHA-CVB’s mission and values.
QUALIFICATIONS
QualificaHons include but not limited to: A diploma or degree in MarkeHng/CommunicaHons, Business
AdministraHon, PoliHcal Science, Public AdministraHon (non-profit focus); minimum of 3 years’ experience in
fundraising with non-profit organizaHons; Personal vehicle and valid class 5 license and Business Insurance
POSITION DETAILS
This is a Temporary Part-Time Exempt PosiHon extending to January 8, 2027 or upon the return of the
incumbent. It may also be extended. Thirty (30) hours per week over five (5) days. The schedule may be
variable, flexible, and change in relaHon to coverage required.
The rate of pay is $35.00 per hour. The posiHon offers a_racHve Benefits Package effecHve the first date of
employment along with Municipal Pension Plan. Successful candidate to start January 2026.

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:
Providing services in the Cowichan Valley since 1992, Canadian Mental Health AssociaHon - Cowichan Valley
Branch (CMHA-CVB) is a registered charity and not-for-profit, independent society operaHng under a branch
division agreement with CMHA BriHsh Columbia and within the context of the naHon-wide Strategic Plan of
the Canadian Mental Health AssociaHon.
As part of a naHonal organizaHon and an advocate of mental health for all, CMHA-CVB facilitates access to
resources people need to maintain and improve mental health and wellbeing, and to parHcipate in community
integraHon, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness and/or substance use and addicHon.
CMHA-CVB operates Warmland House Emergency Shelter, TransiHonal Housing Services, Sobering and
Assessment Centre, Mischa Lelum Youth Emergency Shelter, Adult Outreach programs, a Youth Centre/Youth
Connect, Bounce Back personal coaching, Family Capacity Program, and a variety of other
counselling/therapeuHc programs for children, youth, and families.
CMHA-CVB also provides community educaHon and advocacy aimed at the promoHon of good mental health
and in support of individuals and families with mental health challenges.

POSITION SUMMARY:
ReporHng to the ExecuHve Director, the Manager of Community Engagement, Philanthropy, and Fund
Development (MCEPFD) is a results-driven fundraising professional dedicated to diversifying and expanding the
organizaHon’s revenue streams. This role leads the design and execuHon of a comprehensive fundraising
strategy that engages individual donors (annual, monthly, and major donors), corporate partners,
foundaHons, and community stakeholders. The Manager provides strategic leadership across fundraising and
donor relaHons, proacHvely culHvaHng partnerships and coordinaHng campaigns, events, and legacy giving
programs. With passion and drive, the Manager will foster a culture of engagement, working alongside
volunteers and peers to strengthen grassroots and community connecHons, and exceed fundraising targets of
$250,000 annually while ensuring all efforts align with CMHA-CVB’s mission and values.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Provide leadership and oversight for all fundraising, philanthropy, donor stewardship, and legacy giving
- Develop and implement annual and long-term fundraising strategies that diversify revenue streams
- Drive fundraising growth by proactively engaging community members, businesses, and organizations
- Cultivate philanthropy and steward donor relationships, managing a portfolio of individual, corporate,
- Communicate the impact of CMHA Cowichan Valley programs, ensuring volunteers, donors, and
- Manage fundraising budgets, track performance, and report outcomes to senior leadership and the

- Develop and execute community engagement strategies, leveraging traditional media and social
- Recruit, train, and manage event volunteers, fostering collaboration and grassroots engagement
- Create compelling content and promotional materials for campaigns, events, and donor
- Maintain and update the CMHA-CVB website, including donation pages, blog posts, and email
- Oversee donor database (Nation builder, Canada Helps) and reporting systems, ensuring accurate
- Prepare regular reports on revenues, expenses, donor growth, and key performance trends
- Collaborate across teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational mission and values, adjusting
strategies as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of mental health and addicHon issues affecHng adults, youth, and children, with the ability
- Understanding of cultural competency and anH-racist pracHces, ensuring inclusive and equitable
- Familiarity with fundraising ethics and standards, including the AssociaHon of Fundraising Professionals
- Technical knowledge of planned giving and charitable compliance, including bequests, gims of life
- Strong local relaHonships within the community, with the ability to leverage networks to build trust,
- Proven ability to build and sustain donor relaHonships that inspire confidence and long-term
- ExcepHonal communicaHon skills, both verbal and wri_en, to effecHvely engage donors, sponsors, and
- Demonstrated success in grant wriHng and securing funding from diverse sources
- Proven ability to navigate rapidly evolving social media planorms and algorithms, with strong skills in
leveraging AI tools to opHmize markeHng, promoHonal content, and engagement across Facebook,
Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn
- Strong organizaHonal, financial, and digital skills, including proficiency with MS Office and donor
- Experience in event and campaign management, including peer-to-peer fundraising and community-
- Ability to provide leadership and collaboraHon, guiding diverse teams of staff and volunteers while
- Capacity to represent and communicate CMHA Cowichan Valley Branch’s mission and values,
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required to support fundraising and engagement acHviHes
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A diploma or degree in MarkeHng/CommunicaHons, Business AdministraHon, PoliHcal Science, Public
considered
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in fundraising with non-profit organizaHons, or CerHfied Fund-
fundraising, leading social media and community engagement iniHaHves
- Knowledge of local community preferred
- Experience recruiHng and managing volunteers
- Membership in AssociaHon of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is an asset
- Successful Clearance of a Criminal Record Check for vulnerable sector
- Personal vehicle and valid class 5 license and Business Insurance
