About the role Hunter Scouts is recruiting for a confidential government client in the Ottawa area for a Storage Architect to install, administer, and maintain EMC storage systems in an enterprise/government environment. This hands-on, hybrid role requires an experienced storage engineer/architect who will manage EMC storage platforms, ensure high availability and data integrity, perform upgrades and patches under change control, and participate in an on-call rotation. You will collaborate with onsite teams in Ottawa and document configurations and runbooks for operational support.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, monitor, upgrade, and maintain EMC storage systems in an enterprise/government environment
  • Administer storage operating environments, firmware, and management interfaces
  • Monitor storage performance and capacity; troubleshoot and resolve storage-related incidents
  • Plan and execute upgrades and patches following formal change-control processes
  • Ensure high availability, data integrity, security compliance, and participate in disaster recovery activities
  • Provide off-hours/on-call support as part of a rotation
  • Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and technical procedures; collaborate onsite in Ottawa

Requirements

  • Must be currently based within a 50-mile radius of Ottawa, ON and able to work onsite in Ottawa 2–3 days per week
  • 5+ years of enterprise storage administration/engineering experience, including 3+ years hands-on with EMC storage systems
  • Active Government of Canada Secret (Level II) security clearance (mandatory)
  • Authorized to work in Canada without employer sponsorship
  • Experience administering storage OS/firmware and management tools, executing upgrades/patches under change control, monitoring performance/capacity, troubleshooting incidents, and willing to provide off-hours/on-call support

Preferred Skills

  • Performance tuning and capacity planning for large-scale storage environments
  • Experience creating runbooks and technical documentation for operations
  • Experience supporting government or other highly regulated environments
  • Scripting/automation experience for storage administration (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible)
