Your Opportunity Under the direction of the Manager, Buildings and Property Services, supervises and assigns work orders, repair services to buildings, student residence, furniture, equipment, and grounds including carpentry, painting, plumbing, irrigation, sanitation needs and other related duties. This position is also responsible for the testing of emergency showers and eyewash/deluge stations to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements
Functions and Duties 1. Prioritizes, assigns and supervises work to be performed by staff maintenance technicians and
monitors completion of tasks. Ensure work is completed in a safe and efficient manner. Follows
guidelines from WSBC regulations, building code and Okanagan Health and Safety policies.
Recommends additional personnel training where required.
2. Creates, modifies preventative maintenance schedules.
3. Maintains and repairs buildings, student residences, interior and exterior surfaces and
components. Repairs doors and Locks.
4. Installs, maintains and makes minor repairs to furnishings and equipment.
5. Maintains and repairs grounds facility, parking lots, signs, etc.
6. Maintains and repairs buildings, student residences, interior and exterior surfaces, and
components.
7. Install repair and maintain plumbing systems including water lines, hydration stations, drains,
etc.
8. Maintain materials inventory and order supplies as needed.
9. Coordinates and manages all purchases of equipment and consumable supplies for the Building
& Property Management team
10. Provide training and mentorship to junior staff.
11. Repairs, adjusts and maintains irrigation systems including start up, repairs and blow out at end
of year.
12. Responsible for documenting, testing and repairing the emergency showers and eyewash
stations at all campuses and leased locations.
13. Paints classrooms, hallways, offices, washrooms etc. (including prepping areas for painting, tape,
mud, drywall etc.)
14. Works with Custodians to assemble and install furniture and equipment, including relocation or
rearranging as necessary; completes minor maintenance related to grounds, signs, snow removal
of steps, walkways, etc.
15. Make recommendations on maintenance requirements.
16. Carries out removal of snow from college grounds.
17. Performs other related duties
Education and Experience Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent plus trades training to Plumbing/Pipe Fitter Journeyman status. Valid Class 5 driver’s license required. 4-6 years of progressive experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience

  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Works well independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel to other campus locations
  • Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to work on ladders, platform lifts, in confined spaces, and in awkward positions

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate $61,753 - $70,561
