Your role

CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking a Team Lead, Administration to work with the management teams at the Ottawa station and support the stations across Ontario, under the supervision of the Director of Production and Resources. This position is based in Ottawa.

In this role, you must have experience in administration and team management, and demonstrate sound judgment and discretion. You will be expected to supervise a team of administrators and rigorously plan for operational needs. In-depth knowledge of how our stations operate is a valuable asset.

You will be responsible, among other things, for the management, optimization, and operation of administrative activities related to personnel, various projects, equipment, and budget management. You will also play a key role in the use of the Workday system.

You must demonstrate strong, positive leadership and interpersonal skills to maintain a harmonious and respectful work environment. You will support managers and employees with administrative guidance, ensuring compliance with current standards and policies and alignment with management’s directives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish priorities for the administration sector in Ontario.
  • Implement administrative solutions and processes tailored to managers’ needs, and ensure coordination between teams.
  • Oversee planning, daily management, and employee development within your sector.
  • Support and advise managers on HR and financial administrative processes, including approvals, relocations, and additional compensation.
  • Develop recruitment, development, and retention strategies, notably by overseeing training and onboarding.
  • Provide Workday administrative support (hiring, advancements, promotions, HR movements) for Ontario managers.
  • Track staffing movements (primary assignments, secondary assignments, vacancies, abolished positions, etc.) and maintain hierarchical structures.
  • Coordinate administrative support for preparing agreements and contracts in accordance with collective agreements, and provide guidance in this area.
  • Prepare training tools for administrative support (for employees and managers).
  • Plan and conduct individual meetings for performance management (PMR) within the administrative sector.
  • Provide daily support to administrative officers (analysis and problem solving).
  • Work closely with finance, communications, and human resources departments and ensure effective communication between teams.
  • Produce summaries and reports at management’s request.
  • Coordinate environmental initiatives at the Ottawa station.
  • Perform all other administrative duties related to the position.

Your Profile

  • College diploma (DEC) and at least five (5) years of varied experience in administrative support
  • Ability to work effectively in unionized environments
  • Autonomous, organized, and resourceful
  • Able to manage several files simultaneously
  • Able to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines
  • Detail-oriented and thorough
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ease in building relationships
  • Skilled at handling sensitive situations and managing confidential information
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of internal standards, policies, and collective agreements
  • Excellent spoken and written French and English
