About The Role

Stay22 is seeking an experienced and driven Financial Controller to ensure the financial health of our rapidly growing company. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong leader with a deep understanding of accounting principles and a passion for the technology sector.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

• Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to the leadership team, supporting strategic decision-making.
• Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports.
• Manage the annual financial audit process.
  
  

Accounting Operations:

• Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations, including quarterly sales tax filings and corporate tax calculations.
• Oversee treasury operations, including cash flow monitoring, account reconciliations, and vendor payments.
• Process payroll and required employee payroll documentation.
  
  

Internal Controls and Process Improvement:

• Develop and maintain a robust system of internal controls.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices within the finance function.
  
  

Team Leadership:

• Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA designation and Big Four firm experience strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a management role.
• Strong understanding of ASPE and IFRS.
• Experience in the technology or travel industry is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, Netsuite or other ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Bilingual in English and French.
