Job Summary Dalhousie University School of Social Work’s faculty, students, and alumni share a common objective: to embrace a critical and anti-oppressive approach to social work practice that includes an emphasis on social policy, professional values, theoretical perspectives, and practice methods. Reporting to the Administrative Manager, the Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the Director, will coordinate scholarships for the School and will take part in special projects and support committees

Key Responsibilities
- Act as a resource to the Director, responding to requests and inquiries related to policies and procedures, and assisting the Director with routine administrative matters.
- Provide administrative support with faculty sabbaticals, reappointment, promotion, tenure, faculty and sessional recruitment, which includes gathering information, managing files and taking minutes.
- Provide secretarial support to the Director, maintain the Director’s calendar in Outlook, coordinate meeting of the School Executive and Advisory Committee. Assist with travel expense claims.
- Administer scholarship processes for the School, posting advertisements, compiling applications and preparing them for Committee review. Complete forms to process funds for successful applicants.
- Support the School’s accreditation projects such as typing reports, booking travel arrangements and responding to accrediting body, when required.

Required Qualifications
- Business/Administrative Professional program with three to five years’ experience in a similar role (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication, organization, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task, demonstrated initiative and attention to detail.
