The Role

BGC is seeking an Intermediate Hydrogeologist or Hydrogeological Engineer with a focus on numerical

modelling. This is an exciting opportunity to join a cross-disciplinary team comprised of hydrogeologists, hydrogeological engineers, and geochemists working

across mining, pipelines, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will contribute their technical expertise to help solve some of the most complex earth science challenges worldwide. This position offers a chance to deepen your technical expertise, work within a culture of mentorship and learning, and make a meaningful impact at a global scale.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrogeological site investigation and characterization (soil and rock core logging, groundwater sampling, hydraulic testing), conceptual hydrogeological model development, and reporting
  • Manage, analyse, and interpret complex datasets to support project objectives
  • Transpose field data interpretations and conceptual hydrogeological model(s) into the development of groundwater numerical flow model(s)
  • Script and automate modelling workflows using Python to enhance efficiency and reproducibility
  • Collaborate with hydrogeologists, engineers, and geochemists on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Lead small to moderate scope projects, including proposal development, budget and schedule tracking, internal staffing, and contractor management
  • Contribute to a culture of technical excellence and collaboration


Required Education, Experience & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in geoscience, geological engineering, or a related discipline
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geologist (P.Geo.), or eligible for registration
  • 5–10 years of relevant professional experience, with a focus on 3D numerical modelling
  • Proficiency in Python scripting for modelling and data management
  • Experience with groundwater and/or geotechnical modelling software (e.g., FEFLOW, SEEP/W, MODFLOW, Leapfrog, HydroGeoSphere)
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, and eager to contribute to a team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to travel and work in the field, including remote locations


Position Requirements

Drug & Alcohol Testing

To ensure we meet our client’s compliance requirements and our workplace health and safety commitments, BGC has a drug and alcohol policy that applies to this position. The policy states that an employee may be required to take a drug and alcohol test prior to engaging in field work. This testing could be requested within an employee’s first week or in the future, as required. It is important to note that some clients also require random drug and alcohol testing, and/or testing in the event of a health and safety accident or incident.

Driver’s License

BGC requires that employees have a valid driver's license, and that employees can drive a field pickup truck. Upon hiring, BGC will require a driver’s abstract to allow for a safety review of your driving history.

    Wage Range

    The estimated base salary range for this position is $90,000-$135,000 CAD per annum, however base pay will be commensurate with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. BGC's compensation package also includes a discretionary bonus plan, training allowance, and comprehensive medical and dental plan.
