Your Opportunity:
The Licensed Practical Nurse reports directly to the Unit Manager of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). As a member of the multidisciplinary team caring for newborns, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in accordance with both the Misericordia Community Hospital and Covenant Health policies and procedures. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides care and support to neonatal patients, their families and/or caregivers while recognizing the value of and working within a Family Centered Care philosophy. The Licensed Practical Nurse accepts responsibility for continuing competency through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs, research, and continuous quality activities. Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Must have good communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work within a multidisciplinary team. Must be adaptable to a rapidly changing environment and have strong organizational skills. Successfully pass the NICU Medication Administration exam done at the time of interview.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency with Connect Care. 1+ years’ recent experience in a Level 2 NICU. Current NRP certification. Formal Breastfeeding education an asset.
