Role Overview
The Accounting Specialist supports day-to-day accounting operations and Record to Report (RTR) processes for Lenovo’s North America region. This role focuses on accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and collaboration with internal teams and outsourced service providers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic, global environment. Ensuring that accounting practices align with organizational goals and regulations while implementing best practices that drive efficiency and compliance. This position will be hybrid at our Markham, ON office 3 days per week.

Role Overview
The Accounting Specialist supports day-to-day accounting operations and Record to Report (RTR) processes for Lenovo’s North America region. This role focuses on accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and collaboration with internal teams and outsourced service providers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic, global environment. Ensuring that accounting practices align with organizational goals and regulations while implementing best practices that drive efficiency and compliance. Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations Financial Reporting:
- Assist with monthly and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries, including manual entries from shared services teams.
- Support reconciliation of key accounts such as fixed assets, bank/cash, payroll, and intercompany transactions.
- Collaborate with the Center of Scale (COS) team to ensure smooth execution of RTR
- Ensure accounting activities align with IFRS/US GAAP and internal policies.
- Help maintain internal controls and support compliance efforts.
- Assist in preparing audit documentation and responding to auditor requests.
- Ensure audit deliverables are complete and submitted on time.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and system enhancements.
- Support change management activities related to new tools or processes.
- Continuous Improvement Projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance; CPA/CA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 4 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, ideally within a multinational company (MNC).
- 3+ years of experience in accounting or financial operations for both US and Canadian Record to Report processes.
- Prior experience working in multi-national companies, preferably with exposure to complex intercompany transactions.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, especially SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA.
- Comfortable working in cross-cultural teams and flexible to support multiple time zones.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong customer service orientation.
- Experience with shared services or outsourced finance teams is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
