Job Summary:
Reporting to the VP Operational Excellence and Infrastructure, the National Director of Infrastructure and Material Handling Equipment is responsible for overseeing the implementation of business strategic plan, development, and management of the company’s infrastructure and material equipment including maintenance management. This represents 12 DCs across Canada. This role is critical to ensure that all physical and technological assets are aligned with the company’s long-term goals and operational needs. The Director will lead a team of senior professionals, outside contractors and work closely with other departments to support the growth and efficiency of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Support:
Implement long-term strategies for infrastructure and material handling equipment management.
As COE, align infrastructure initiatives with business strategies, objectives and operational needs.
Key player in BCP and disaster recovery plans.
Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of infrastructure and equipment professionals.
Cultivate a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and high performance within the team.
Cross Functional Leadership – Provide guidance and leadership to the team and to other areas of the organization that interact with Infrastructure and Material Equipment (Operations, Project Management, IT, etc.) to achieve the enterprise goals
Proven leadership, change management and project management experience.
Innovation:
Identify, promote, and drive innovation to achieve significant improvements in key business metrics (i.e Safety, Compliance, Productivity and customer experience).
Address change management throughout the process to support successful adoption.
Operations Management:
Oversee the maintenance programs, upgrade, and deployment of infrastructure and material equipment all within health and safety guidelines. Monitor through the CMSS system
Play the COE role for national supplies.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Develop and manage the budget for the infrastructure and equipment at national level.
Project Management:
Lead infrastructure projects from conception through implementation, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support various projects and initiatives.
National Vendor Management:
Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance to ensure the best value for the company.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Develop KPIs and metrics to assess the effectiveness of automation initiatives.
Regularly report on the performance and impact of infrastructure and MHE projects to senior leadership.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks related to infrastructure and equipment and develop mitigation plans.
Ensure robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place.
Continuous Improvement:
Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance infrastructure efficiency and effectiveness.
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to keep the company’s infrastructure and equipment at the forefront of innovation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP,) is preferred.
Minimum of 12 years of experience in infrastructure and equipment management, with at least 4 years in a national or regional leadership role managing multiple projects with many different stakeholders.
Proven track record of managing large-scale infrastructure projects and teams.
Implementing projects and solutions in a highly regulated environment an asset.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent strategic planning and problem-solving abilities.
Strong understanding of infrastructure technologies, material equipment management and health and safety standards.
Proficient in project management methodologies.
English and French (mandatory) written and spoken
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Travel across Canada required, up to 40% of the time depending on business needs.
