We are currently seeking an Associate Manager - Tenant Engagement to join our team at our Sunset Towers site (Downtown Vancouver) in a full-time capacity. The Associate Manager - Tenant Engagement will be part of the site administration at Sunset Towers would work to engage MTR housing tenants, manage tenant communications, participate in MTR food safety programs and plan and coordinate various community events and activities to prevent social isolation, encourage tenant involvement and improve mental health of residents, extending the housing values and vision of More Than a Roof.

This position is an in person role and expected to work 40 hours per week.

What you will be doing:

Tenants Community building, administer tenants' engagement

  • Plan and coordinate various tenant engagement events - Easter, Canada Day, Summer BBQ, Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner, birthdays, farewells, special occasions and any event as directed by the Manager
  • Food programs: kitchen, external connections, food recovery initiatives, food security, sustainability, 
  • Tenant self-efficacy: Pursue a DoWith model
  • Promoting and Encouraging tenant initiatives (in partnership with the CSC). Encourage tenant interaction and participation through community events, volunteer opportunities and the like.

Building Volunteer Community:

  • Volunteer team management: source, recruit, screen, train, monitor and appreciate volunteers.
  • Volunteer participation tracking and metrics

Tenant Communications Coordination

  • Monitors SST email address and direct complaints and concerns accordingly.
  • Schedule tenant meetings, and appointments for disputes/conflict resolution.
  • Maintain documents & records of tenant complaints and resolution

More Than a Store, Inventory and budget management

  • Own and manage More Than a Store at Sunset Towers. Keep records, manage inventory, budget and spending controls, and recruit volunteers. Ensure that More Than a Store serves the purpose it was instituted for and maintain accurate record-keeping of expenses and purchases.
  • Maintain inventory of materials and infrastructure needed for community events, programs and sessions
  • Collecting monthly meal payments, Banking & Arcori & Coding/Reporting Expenses

External Support Framework

  • External connections. Create external partnerships to benefit tenants, including neighbors to SST.
  • Solicit donations, supports and network participations for increasing opportunities for tenants

Sunset common facilities and space

  • Manage common spaces – Work with Facilities team to ensure they are well kept and welcoming
  • Conduct events and organized activity in good well laid out spaces, with efforts given to participant experience and joy of being.

What you bring:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Prior experience in hospitality, housing, community services, public health or similar would be an added advantage
  • Values drives with a heart for our sector, affordable housing, poverty alleviation, community support and desire to uplift the most vulnerable.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent organizational skills, a positive attitude and an ability to work effectively with other team members are important.
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills to build relationships outsides and inside the organization.
  • Excellent communicator and team player, ability to resolve conflicts, and ability to create teams and rapport

Working Conditions

MTR employees work closely with members in the vulnerable sector, both within our client base and with the general public. There may be exposure to abuse (verbal or physical), encounters with individuals in unsanitary conditions, and interactions with individuals experiencing emotional issues or vicarious trauma.

More Than a Roof is a faith-based ministry, guided and operated by those who are mature in the Christian faith. This role will involve a component of Christian ministry and outreach. A statement of faith is requested from candidates as part of the application process.
