ABOUT THE ROLE

The Account Manager is a key member of the Calgary Pipe leadership team and is responsible for estimating, sales, project management, and strategic development for the underground construction materials business in the Greater Calgary Market. This role leads the sales, project management, and order administration teams, ensuring that customer needs are met in alignment with operational capabilities. The Account Manager will also drive pricing and commercial strategy for the business.


The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, exceptional customer service, and proven leadership abilities. They must also be able to quickly understand and apply the technical aspects of the product line.


WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Build and establish effective, professional relationships with customers and influencers based on quality interpersonal interactions and technical skills.
  • Identify and understand current and unmet needs for existing and potential customers and translate them into sales opportunities.
  • Continuously monitor competitor and construction activity, communicate and recommend any necessary actions.
  • Understand existing product specifications, identify and recommend opportunities.
  • Project manage acquired projects by attending site meetings, identifying and pricing work, coordinating and scheduling the project with the customer, invoicing, collections, and resolving any disputes involving the customer and any other third parties
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and sales quotations as required
  • Provide day-to-day sales and customer service support in the application of concrete pipe or drainage products
  • Responsible for achieving volume/market share and price/profitability objectives by product and customer/market segment.
  • Capable of understanding monthly financial statements and making decisions that promote solid financial results.
  • Responsible for credit and accounts receivable management. Supports collection activities to meet days’ sales outstanding targets.
  • Responsible for inventory control. Oversees development and coordination of production plan to meet customer needs and days strict working capital targets.
  • Responsible for managing a dynamic team whose responsibilities include outside and inside sales, estimating, project management and administration.
  • Lead all aspects of customer service for the business. Work closely with own team and technical/quality control/operations departments to promote an effective, customer-focused work environment.
  • Assist in the formulation and lead the execution of Greater Calgary Commercial Strategy for Pipe including, market share analysis.
  • Develop and implement appropriate pricing strategy based on market conditions.
  • Lead transition from product offering to solution selling within market place.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Post-secondary education is required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Field of Study Preferred: Engineering or Business.
Required Work Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of relevant construction materials experience.
Required Training/Certifications: P.Eng or CET designation would be an asset.
Required Technical Skills: Microsoft Suite and Google Suite.
Travel Requirements: 5%

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
