We are currently recruiting for a Field Service Specialist, Machinery Performance, based in Calgary, Red Deer, or Edmonton. The successful candidate will be tasked with supporting our customers on a range of Spartan products and solutions related to our Electrical Reliability Services. This is an opportunity for individuals who want to work with a leading automation supplier, providing innovative solutions based on industry-recognized technologies in some of the largest installations in the world. The position will report to the Manager, Rotating Equipment & Reliability Engineering.

The position will report to the Manager, Rotating Equipment & Reliability Engineering.
Role And Responsibilities
- Provide on-demand field service support to our Reliability Services group, with a focus on electric motor reliability, PdMA, motor vibration, infrared thermography
- Lead drive and motor setup, including VFD programming, smart device configuration (e.g., RVSS, overloads, power meters, breakers), pre-shipment testing, onsite commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Oversee switchgear installation (contractor alignment, torquing, and verification)
- Interpret electrical diagrams and documentation; apply knowledge of three-phase systems, transformers, control circuits, and CSA-compliant electrical installations
- Use diagnostic tools (multimeters, meggers, ductors, TTRs, torque wrenches) to test and troubleshoot systems
- Follow electrical safety practices (LOTO, PPE, grounding, arc flash); conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code 22.1, CSA 254, and industry standards
- Frequent domestic travel with potential travel to the US
- Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma
- Experience with industrial software and familiarity with computer hardware fundamentals; programming experience is an asset
- Experience with rotating equipment is an asset
- Related industry experience is an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Solid customer service habits and practices
- Self-directed and able to work independently, as well as in a team environment
- Ability to produce quality documentation in a timely and accurate manner
- Physical requirements: able to drive long distances (typically in the range of 2 to 6 hours one way); occasional moderate lifting (ie: up to approximately 25 kg)
- Valid Alberta driver's license, safe driving record and willing to travel,
- Entrepreneurial work ethic
