Located in Mississauga, ON, Republic Packaging of Canada is one of Chicago-based Republic Packaging Corp.'s five North American operating locations. As a 60 year-old provider of cushion packaging we are known for outstanding design, quality and customer service. In addition to packaging, we provide warehouse management services that can complement our packaging products or be a stand-alone service to provide solutions to our customers' problems.
With our eye toward growth, we are actively working to grow our sales by 50% over the next 3 years and enter new markets with our packaging and service offerings. We are seeking an experienced Operations professional to join the team at our ISO certified facility and support our service and packaging deliverables.
Description
While learning internal processes and production operations, the Operations Manager will oversee and support Production, Customer Service, Purchasing and Estimating within the facility. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager will foster a culture of continuous improvement, best practices, quality, efficiency and improving on the already tremendous customer experience our clients receive.

Description
While learning internal processes and production operations, the Operations Manager will oversee and support Production, Customer Service, Purchasing and Estimating within the facility. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager will foster a culture of continuous improvement, best practices, quality, efficiency and improving on the already tremendous customer experience our clients receive.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Sales and Engineering to increase and improve company offerings
- Leverage analytical skills to drive achievable but aggressive productivity rates
- Understand supplier cost models and promote optimal buying strategies
- Learn Production flow, processes, equipment and labor planning
- Identify and drive initiatives that reduce costs, improve the customer experience and expand manufacturing capabilities
- Ensure efficient and timely coordination with sister facilities
- Supervise operational activity in Mississauga and other facilities as assigned
- Using gained knowledge, support Customer Service and Sales when customer needs are outside of established processes
- Establish and maintain a viable support structure for Operations-related office functions
- Ensure the presence of adequate and capable staff
- Maintain a current and prospective supplier database while developing supply partners, not just vendors
- Participate in and occasionally lead projects as assigned by (and supported by) the Director of Operations
- Challenge facility staff to grow and develop and aid/foster their model for success
- 4 year degree in Business, Finance or Engineering
- 10+ years of manufacturing experience
- 5+ years in a managerial capacity
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, 5S, Project Management and similar tools
- ERP/MRP Experience
- Ability to assimilate and present data and concepts concisely
- Ability to travel within the province as required (less than 25%)
- Near 50-year presence in Canada
- Industry-specific training where needed.
