• Prepare technical specifications and tender documents for HVDC converters and FACTS devices
• Evaluate bids, perform design reviews and witness factory and onsite commissioning tests
• Conduct HVDC/FACTS studies and apply them to complex power systems
• Collaborate with clients, project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions
• Mentor junior engineers and represent BBA in technical committees and industry groups

Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in electrical engineering
• P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration
• At least 15 years of industry experience, including 10+ years in HVDC/FACTS
• Expertise in HVDC/FACTS design, equipment and testing
• Experience in serving as an Owner’s Engineer for HVDC/FACTS projects
• Experience preparing technical documents and proposals
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills
• Ability to travel within Canada, the USA and internationally for short-term assignments
• Project management knowledge (scoping, planning, estimating)
• Experience with power system simulation tools (PSCAD, PSSE, RTDS)
• Familiarity with electrical protection and control systems
• Knowledge of IEEE, NEC or IEC standards
