City: Mississauga, ON
Contract type: Full time
Associated Youth Services of Peel is an accredited, not-for-profit charitable organization, supporting children, youth, and families with mental health and/or youth justice issues. We have a compassionate team of professionals and volunteers dedicated to helping children, youth, and families manage mental health and/or justice issues to realize their potential. AYSP provides a client-centered, strength-based approach to engage all children, youth, and families in a manner which is culturally sensitive, non-judgmental, and respectful. Working together with our service partners using a multi-systems perspective, AYSP provides services that are evidence-based and evidence-informed.
Our volunteers bring a wide range of knowledge and experience from diverse backgrounds to our workplace and are an integral part of programs supporting the community we serve. AYSP offers a supportive and friendly team environment and a rewarding volunteer experience with the opportunity to network and gain new skills, learn about resources in your community, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of people we support.
We are currently seeking volunteers to co-facilitate restorative justice circles for our Youth Justice Committee (YJC) Program, who are passionate about serving youth and families, have superior interpersonal skills, and are vibrant, flexible, and compassionate!
The Youth Justice Committee (YJC) Program is a program funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, that provides an alternative to formal court proceedings when dealing with young people alleged to have committed certain offenses. Youth Justice Committees involve trained community members who meet with persons harmed, accused young people, and their parents/caregivers to negotiate an appropriate way for the young person to make amends for their actions.
Individuals with the following qualifications are invited to apply with their cover letter and resume to: https://secure.collage.co/jobs/aysp .
We thank all candidates for applying, however, only candidates being considered for a volunteer placement will be contacted.
