About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer, Data Engineering, to join our dynamic engineering team based in Toronto. This role is integral to building and maintaining the foundational datasets that support decision-making, analytics, and machine learning initiatives across Robinhood. As a key contributor, you will collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to develop scalable and reliable data pipelines, ensuring the integrity and accessibility of critical data assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building end-to-end data solutions, a passion for data infrastructure, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, innovative environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the company's data architecture and support our mission to democratize finance through impactful data-driven insights.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in building end-to-end data pipelines
  • Proficiency in Python for production-level software development
  • Hands-on experience with open-source data frameworks such as Spark, Flink, or similar
  • Strong SQL skills, including experience with Presto, Spark SQL, or equivalent
  • Experience working across the data stack, including data infrastructure, analytics, and visualization platforms
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and democratize data insights
  • Knowledge of data generation patterns and upstream engineering processes
  • Experience with designing scalable, efficient, and maintainable data pipelines

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop key datasets across all Robinhood product areas, ensuring they evolve with emerging use cases
  • Build and optimize scalable data pipelines using Python, Spark, and Airflow to transfer data into our data lake
  • Collaborate with upstream engineering teams to enhance data generation and collection methods
  • Partner with data consumers to understand their needs and design intuitive, accessible data models
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of data engineering tools and best practices
  • Promote a culture of data quality, reliability, and efficiency across the organization
  • Maintain and improve existing data infrastructure to support analytics, experimentation, and machine learning
