Your Opportunity:
The Provincial Training Specialist is a provincial role and is responsible for providing Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training, E-Sim training, Tactical Communications and First Aid training within Protective Services and clinical stakeholders. The Provincial Training Specialist must have the ability to work independently with minimal guidance, supervision, and direction. There is a travel component to this position as you will be going to various AHS sites. The Provincial Training Specialist must also be able to assist in other training initiatives as directed by the Provincial Coordinator or Manager of Training and Development Unit. The Provincial Training Specialist acts as a critical resource of knowledge and expertise in the areas of CPI, Tactical Communications, and First Aid training. Significant judgment and expertise are exercised by the Provincial Training Specialist in the offering of professional opinions to the Protective Services Operations. Professional opinions and expertise are also given to AHS key stakeholders (clinical). This includes but is not limited to facilitation dynamics, course content and training initiatives. The position involves public speaking and teaching both the academic and physical aspects of CPI, Tactical Communications and First Aid courses throughout the province. Promote strong relationships and awareness between clinical and administrative staff and Protective Services. May be utilized by the Officer Safety team when requested.
Description:
As a Trainer, you will participate in the development, enhancement and delivery of training for staff in accordance with AHS standards and practices. You will design, develop and deliver training materials that align with the training framework for various AHS applications and processes. Throughout the course development cycle, you will follow relevant standards to ensure a consistent approach for all training courses offered. Course delivery methods can include in-person and online facilitation as well as self-study online learning modules (e-learning). You will also provide excellent customer service and end user support to staff impacted by AHS applications and processes.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary diploma in a related field.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Must be eligible for appointment as a Community Peace Officer by the Province of Alberta. Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Related work/instructional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Ability to work well in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Effective communicator. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Class 5 driver's license or non GDL is required. Must be able to stand/drive for long periods of time. Must be able to carry up to 40lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to successfully interact with key internal and external agencies and stakeholders. Ability to maintain a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work. Strong organizational skills. Strong knowledge of computer systems and applications, specifically Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Access. Experience teaching or instructing others is preferred.
