The Performance Measurement Attribution & Risk “PMAR” department supports CI’s multiple business lines through independent measurement of the Investment portfolio performance and benchmarks, value add contribution and attribution reporting, risk reporting insightful analysis, commentary, and functional reporting. The Analyst, Performance Attribution & Risk role is part of a team of analysts responsible for the performance measurement and monitoring of investment funds managed at by CI Investments. The successful candidate will be responsible for portfolio return calculations; preparing and maintaining daily, monthly and quarterly reports; and using a variety of performance and attribution engines. The foremost responsibility of this position is to provide accurate, relevant, and timely performance and attribution data. The candidate is expected to have the ability to respond to internal and external performance attribution and risk questions in a timely and effective manner. WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Work independently and with senior staff to ensure timely and accurate data delivery across all lines of business.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve performance discrepancies adhering to Service Level Agreements and internal service delivery standards.
- Oversee irregular performance calculation and maintenance and identify opportunities to improve internal processes.
- Assist with workloads and problem resolution within the team as necessary.
- Ensure client deliverables are met while maintaining proper documentation with adherence to risk standards. Organize and execute plan to remediate issues.
- Ability to interpret large amounts of data and translate into concise, easily understood speaking points to senior staff members.
- Automate and streamline existing processes within Performance Measurement and Risk.
- Participate in UAT testing for system upgrades or enhancements.
- Escalate issues where necessary to ensure a high level of service is maintained.
- Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, business administration, or applied mathematics with a strong appetite for quantitative analysis
- Knowledge in investment performance measurement methodologies such as Time-Weighted and Money-Weighted rate of return, attribution, and contribution.
- Advanced skills in MS Office applications (i.e. Excel, Access)
- Experience with FactSet, Bloomberg is considered asset.
- Knowledge of Excel VBA, SQL, Python, Database will be considered an asset.
- Passion for and understanding of investments and capital markets. Progress towards or completion of CIPM designation is an asset.
- Ability to use critical thinking skills to tackle challenging problems in an innovative way.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy while meeting deadlines and working under pressure.
