    What will your typical day look like?

    The Director – Sustainability & Regulatory Affairs position will be part of the team of the Deloitte Global Office of General Counsel. Led by the General Counsel, Deloitte Global OGC consists of approximately 50 people, including lawyers and legal assistants located in the US, UK, Australia and various other countries. Deloitte Global OGC has three main groups: Corporate Affairs, Technology and Business Solutions, and Disputes, Regulatory & Employment, each of which is led by a Deputy General Counsel. The Disputes, Regulatory & Employment group currently has 9 fulltime lawyers, including the Deputy General Counsel.

    Role Summary

    The Director – Sustainability & Regulatory Affairs is a pivotal member of the Deloitte Global Office of General Counsel, responsible for providing strategic legal counsel and leadership on sustainability matters for both Deloitte Global and member firms. This role operates at the intersection of legal, regulatory, and business strategy, advising on emerging sustainability reporting obligations, assurance services, and navigating complex geopolitical and regulatory environments. The Director leads cross-business teams, collaborates with senior leaders, and drives compliance and innovation in sustainability reporting and key sustainability initiatives.

    Work You’ll Do

    • Serve as the lead attorney in Global OGC for sustainability-related matters by advising Deloitte Global and Deloitte member firms on Deloitte’s sustainability reporting obligations, commitments, and voluntary disclosures including interpreting and advising on complex sustainability reporting requirements, such as the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
    • Serve as key legal adviser on efforts to drive engagement on sustainability thought leadership, proposed commitments, award submissions, client contracting matters, and emerging technology development.
    • Provide strategic advice and legal counsel to business teams navigating the complexities of offering assurance and other sustainability-related services as an emerging business line and help to drive consistency in Deloitte's position with respect to disclosure requirements from both an internal and client-facing perspective.
    • Lead compliance efforts for Deloitte Global’s sustainability reporting and filing obligations, including initial scoping and execution, and coordinate cross-business teams (Sustainability, Finance, Procurement, Ethics, Risk) to ensure disclosures are complete, accurate, and strategically aligned.
    • Advise on Deloitte Global and network-wide sustainability initiatives, evaluating legal risks and offering strategic counsel to stakeholders.

    Other Regulatory Matters

    • Advise on other regulatory matters as needed in areas including Audit & Assurance, Antitrust/Competition, and corporate reporting

    Global General Counsel provides legal guidance and expertise to Deloitte Global, the broader Deloitte organization, and our business leaders. We advise on regulatory, claims, and corporate legal matters, as well as additional issues that may pose novel or unique situations.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Juris Doctor (JD), or equivalent law degree from a highly regarded law school.
    • Years of Experience: 10+ years as a practicing attorney, with demonstrated experience in sustainability and regulatory compliance.
    • Experience advising on global sustainability reporting frameworks.
    • Proven ability to lead compliance efforts for regulatory filings.
    • Critical and strategic thinking, with meticulous attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Ability to work on confidential and sensitive matters.
    • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (Finance, Sustainability, Procurement, Risk).
    • Ability to build and maintain business relationships across the Deloitte network and externally.
    • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including inspiring teams, driving agility, building diverse capability, influencing senior leaders, and delivering value.

    Total Rewards

    The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $260,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
