Join Hitachi Energy’s Grid Integration Service Solutions team and play a vital role in supporting advanced power systems across Canada. As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of maintaining and optimizing high-voltage installations in both utility and industrial environments.
You’ll work with cutting-edge technologies including Substations, FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems), and HVDC systems, contributing to the reliability and performance of the grid.
Upon hiring, the candidate will receive hands-on training by participating in commissioning projects and field service jobs alongside experienced members of the Service Solutions team. Once a sufficient level of competence is reached, the candidate will be expected to execute tasks autonomously, with remote support from the team.

How You’ll Make An Impact
- Serve as the first point of contact and subject matter expert for maintenance and repair of FACTS & HVDC stations/systems.
- Provide customer support via phone and on-site deployments.
- Own customer issues and collaborate with warranty project managers to resolve them efficiently.
- Offer technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced personnel, including leading customer training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols during all work activities.
- Support sales efforts during site visits by promoting Hitachi Energy and identifying potential business leads.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred).
- Member of a Professional Engineering association in Canada (or eligible).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in substations and industrial electrification projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety, regulations, and compliance.
- Hands-on experience with substation equipment, protection relays, HV breakers, transformers, and electrical apparatus.
- Experience with computer-based control systems.
- Ability to perform under pressure in time-critical scenarios.
- Familiarity with Power Electronics, SVC, SC, or HVDC technologies is a plus.
- Knowledge of electrical standards (ANSI, CSA, IEC, etc.).
- Strong communication, leadership, initiative, and analytical skills.
- Ability to lead subcontractors and customer resources when needed.
- Organized, flexible, autonomous, and precise.
- Proficient with relevant computer tools.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
