Salary: $24.11 per hour (35 hours per week) as per the Technical Assistant classification within the C.U.P.E Collective Agreement

Job Profile

The Engineering Services Division, Technical Services Branch is offering seasonal employment opportunities from approximately May 4 to October 23, 2026.

As The Seasonal Technical Assistantyou Will

  • Assist on a survey crew to provide technical information for various construction projects, drainage and quantitative surveys.
  • Provide information to customers relating to sewer and water infrastructure.
  • Review building permit applications for lot grading and site servicing.

Your Education And Qualifications Include

  • Successful completion of at least 1 year of a recognized college program in Civil Engineering Technology.
  • Survey skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products (experience with MS Access would be preferred).
  • Familiarity in the use of GIS software.
  • Ability to interpret construction and record drawings and specifications.
  • Basic knowledge of various underground infrastructure that the department is responsible for.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Standard.
  • IMPORTANT: Applicants who have been educated outside of Canada must have education which is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada. Conditions Of Employment

  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s Licence.
  • Must be physically capable of performing all the duties of this position, which may include, but are not limited to: working outdoors in potentially unfavorable weather conditions or extended periods of time.
