Senior UX/UI Designer at N43 Studio

Date: 22 hours ago
City: Toronto, ON
Contract type: Full time
About The Role

N43 Studio is looking for an experienced UX/UI Designer who thrives in fast-paced product environments where ideas evolve quickly and not everything is defined upfront. You’ll work across multiple products at once, moving from zero-to-one concepts to polished, developer-ready interfaces.

Some projects will require deep, detailed UX work that goes straight into development. Others will involve quickly shaping and visualizing early concepts to help product managers demonstrate a vision, test an idea, or support early-stage decision-making. This role requires comfort shifting between these modes without friction.

This is the first full-time design hire in the organization, which means you’ll play a key role in shaping how design operates. You’ll help set the foundation for future designers by establishing processes, structure, and best practices that can scale with the team, while working closely with the UX Researcher to integrate research into design decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate business goals, UX research insights, and user psychology into clear UX flows and product direction.
  • Work on a mix of net-new products and existing products, defining MVPs and iterating on features based on data, assumptions, and user feedback.
  • Integrate UX research findings into design decisions, balancing insights with momentum and delivery timelines.
  • Confidently create early concepts and exploratory designs to communicate product vision, even when information is incomplete.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, UX researchers, developers, and leadership while also being able to work independently.
  • Create high-quality UI designs and prototypes in Figma, moving from quick explorations to polished, build-ready interfaces.
  • Contribute to or establish lightweight design systems while maintaining organized, scalable Figma files.
  • Support smooth developer handoff through clear documentation, annotations, and ongoing collaboration during build.
  • Manage multiple projects at a time, iterate quickly, and remain flexible as priorities shift.

What You Bring

  • 5 to 7+ years of experience in UX/UI or product design.
  • Strong UX foundation, including applying research insights, usability testing, and user psychology to real product decisions.
  • Proven experience taking products from concept to MVP and evolving them into real, shipped products.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and making progress without having all the information upfront.
  • Ability to balance bold ideation with practical execution, knowing when to move fast and when to go deep.
  • A strong visual design sensibility and an eye for polished, production-level UI.
  • Deep experience with Figma and best practices for file structure, components, naming, and collaboration.
  • Experience working closely with engineers and product teams throughout the full product lifecycle.
  • Confidence in presenting work, explaining decisions, and using design to inspire alignment around a vision.
  • Ability to create clarity and structure for others, since this role helps lay the foundation for future designers and design processes.
  • Comfort navigating uncertainty in a fast-moving environment, with ease, letting go of designs that may not move forward.

Nice To Have

  • A knack for narrative building and storytelling, including supporting product vision through decks or presentations.
  • Experience creating or maintaining design systems.
  • Experience working on products in the food or hospitality space.

What To Expect

  • Full-time role.
  • Hybrid work model: two days from home, three days in the downtown Toronto office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday office days).
  • Opportunity to contribute to highly impactful early-stage products across multiple industries.
  • A collaborative environment where experimentation, clarity of thinking, and thoughtful design are valued.
  • Work with a lean, ambitious team of builders and operators.

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Health and dental benefits.
  • 4 weeks PTO and 3 personal days.
  • Hybrid work.
  • A collaborative, supportive team environment.
