Schlegel Villages is excited to introduce a newly created leadership opportunity designed to support and elevate the performance of our Villages. The Director of Operations role is a pivotal position responsible for enhancing resident quality of life through compassionate, resident-centered care, while also ensuring operational efficiency and strategic alignment. With a focus on mentorship, regulatory compliance, financial sustainability, and team development, this role empowers leaders to make a meaningful impact across our Villages. - Provide regional leadership and operational oversight to multiple Villages, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Monitor performance metrics (occupancy, financial results) to drive continuous improvement.
- Coach and develop General Managers in finance, people leadership, clinical operations, and sales.
- Ensure compliance with RHRA, MLTC, and all sector regulations.
- Foster a people-focused culture that supports talent development and embodies organizational values.
- Lead budgeting and strategic planning to support financial sustainability.
- Partner with teams to drive occupancy and promote lifestyle services across retirement and long-term care.
- Support labour relations and HR processes, including hiring, training, grievances, and retention.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external sector partners to achieve shared goals.
- People-centered leader who mentors, develops, and empowers others.
- Builds trust and strong team culture by leveraging individual strengths.
- Demonstrates integrity and fosters authentic, respectful relationships.
- Communicates clearly, listens actively, and inspires through effective storytelling.
- Encourages collaborative decision-making and shared accountability.
- Models lifelong learning, self-awareness, and continuous improvement.
- Applies strategic and critical thinking to navigate challenges and support sustainable operations.
- Leads change effectively, removing barriers and resolving conflicts.
- Possesses strong operational knowledge, including HR policies, fiscal management, and relevant sector regulations (e.g., FLTCA, RHRA).
- Post-secondary degree from a program that is a minimum of three (3) years in duration or post-secondary diploma in health or social services from a program that is a minimum of two (2) years in duration
- Have at least three (3) years of leadership experience in the health or social services sector or if in another sector, has completed a program in long-term care home administration, considered an asset.
