Police Financial Clerk at The City of Red Deer
The Opportunity:
The Police Financial Clerk is responsible for reviewing the RCMP Budget on a regular basis to ensure a proper balance is maintained by this Detachment, as well as preparing, reviewing and certifying all accounts for payment. Completes deposits of seized monies and payments. This position is responsible for compiling, maintaining and regularly auditing the complete police inventory; assists in ensuring the police vehicle fleet is maintained in full operating capacity. Is responsible for ordering and maintaining office supply inventory for the Detachment. Is responsible as the RCMP contingency holder to pay small reimbursements to RCMP members when applicable and ensure accurate records are maintained.
As our preferred candidate, you will have:
- Grade 12, plus completion of a 2-year Business Administration Diploma including courses in accounting.
- Two (2) years related experience in an administrative position that included financial and accounting responsibilities.
- Experience working in a Police or Legal setting to provide thorough knowledge of police procedures would be considered a strong asset.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Ability to type at least 55 wpm accurately with minimal errors.
- Developed ability and skill in using common business software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and ability to learn and adapt to new and emerging software(s) as business need requires.Ability to work very independently with little or no supervision and to make accurate, informed decisions regarding financial matters.
- Must possess above average communication skills, both oral and written when dealing with internal and external stakeholders, management, professional agencies and the public.

- RCMP PROS Data Entry Course(s)
- RCMP PROS Level 2 Users Course
- RCMP TEAM (Travel and Expense Application Module-Financial System) User Course
- Must possess above average organizational and time management skills to meet stringent deadlines.
- Ability to pass and maintain stringent RCMP Security Clearance prior to and throughout employment.
- Ability to enter data into a multiple software databases efficiently and accurately. Must have basic knowledge of office procedures, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets and template creation, such as Microsoft Office Suite programs and Adobe, is required.

Remuneration:
$35.91 to $37.80 per hour. (2025 Rates)
Hours of Work:
75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
