What You’ll Do
- Provide attentive, non-medical care according to each client’s Plan of Care
- Offer companionship through conversation, reading, activities, and social engagement
- Support emotional well-being and mental alertness
- Perform light housekeeping (vacuuming, dusting, laundry, cleaning bathrooms, etc.)
- Prepare meals
- Observe and report changes in a client’s physical, emotional, or mental condition
- Maintain clear, professional communication with clients, and team members
- Complete required documentation accurately and on time
- Participate in training, staff meetings, and ongoing education
- Maintain strict confidentiality and use equipment safely
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- High school diploma (minimum requirement)
- Valid CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to maintain)
- Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check (renewed annually)
- Ability to pass all required background checks, including criminal, driving (if applicable), and reference checks
- Willingness to participate in random drug and alcohol testing
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with insurance is always a bonus!
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to client care
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- A genuine passion for helping others, with high standards of honesty and integrity
Physical & Working Environment
- Regular physical activity including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and light lifting (up to 12 kg / 25 lbs)
- Manual dexterity and strength in both hands required
- Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens or infectious diseases
- Competitive starting wage of $19.00/hour
