The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Decomposer/Reactor Operator to join our IPC Operations Department team in Sudbury.


This is a permanent on-site position, working on a rotation schedule (days and nights), 12-hours shift.


As a Decomposer/Reactor Operator you will continuously improve the work performance through the effective use of established processes and procedures in achieving assigned objectives. Improve on safe work habits throughout plant. This includes ensuring the completion of assigned work with consistency and accuracy by following Vale’s Safety Policies, Programs, and Legislative Standards.


Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Execute the production work components of the FLP&S (Front Line Planning & Scheduling) business process.
  • Work within guidelines, and standards to execute Safety and Production Plans as established by Supervisor.
  • Work collectively with peers and cross-functionally with colleagues in engineering, maintenance, and services to achieve the objectives of the plant.
  • Carry out tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or designate to achieve the desired results within an agreed-upon timeline and end state.
  • Hold yourself accountable for area safety behavior, housekeeping, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Must be able to recognize, prioritize, and understand the controls required to mitigate risks in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the continued improvement of Occupational Health and Safety performance and ensure that all the team members in the workplace take responsibility for aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety over which they have control including adherence to all Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Have the ability to work with Breathing air Respirator, SCBA, half face respirator or PAPR during high-risk activities.


About You

Education:

  • Grade 12 level education or GED equivalency is required.
  • College Diploma in mineral processing, or chemical is preferred.


Experience:

  • Industrial experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with SCBA/Breathing air.
  • First Aid training
  • Experience in chemical processing environments is preferred.
  • Experience in the mining environment in production is an asset.


Skills:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking ability.
