We are seeking a creative, strategic, and highly skilled Communications Officer to join our team for an approximately 16-month term, with the possibility of extension. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Communications, this role plays a key part in bringing the Board's stories to life through compelling social media content, high-quality videography, and strong visual storytelling.

The successful candidate will support and enhance the Board's overall communications strategy by capturing authentic moments across our school communities, creating engaging digital content, and managing a dynamic photography and video portfolio. This role requires a strong eye for storytelling, an understanding of how content performs across platforms, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment where student and staff well-being, community connection, and innovation are central.

Job Description:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication campaigns and strategies, ensuring cohesive and consistent messaging across all platforms

  • Manage communication projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Monitor and analyze communication metrics (analytics) to assess the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns, providing data- driven recommendations for improvement

  • Assist in drafting, editing, and distributing compelling content for various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, press releases, and internal communications.


  • Identify, research, write, and schedule impactful stories demonstrating the OCSB's achievements, mission, and vision.
  • Ensure brand consistency and strict adherence to the Board's communication guidelines across all materials and platforms.

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in social media, videography, website management, and general communications.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners, including staff, students, parents, and community organizations.

  • Assist in organizing and promoting events, meetings, and public relations activities that advance the school board's mission and vision.

  • Participate as a member of OCSB committees as requested, which may include Accessibility, Catholic Education Week, CEFO Charitable Campaign, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Indigenous Education Advisory, and others.

  • Assist in monitoring and managing crisis communication protocols for the Senior Manager of Communications.

  • Respond promptly and effectively to urgent communication needs as they arise.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Required Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Digital Technology, Marketing, Graphic Design or similar

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience

  • Excellent storytelling skills and a keen eye for detail

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for various audiences and platforms

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning new technology

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively

  • Creative, critical thinker with a knack for generating innovative ideas and solutions

  • Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines

  • Experience with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite) and working knowledge of the Google Suite of applications

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed

  • Valid driver's license and consistent access to a reliable vehicle (travel between OCSB schools will be required)

  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may also be considered

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) temporary position with an annual salary range of $95,098 - $103,153 to be prorated as applicable.

The anticipated start date for this position is February 3, 2026, with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027
