Job Description

Some of what you will do:

The overall purpose of the role is to provide leadership and management of the Payroll and Benefits Admin team and to ensure regulatory and legislative compliance and timely and accurate processing of payroll information, special reports and administration of benefits for all associates.

Specifically, You Will

  • Responsible for managing, providing guidance and motivation to the overall team
  • Support the Senior Manager, Payroll and Benefits Admin in the collaboration with other functional areas, including Staples US, and external parties regarding regular and ad hoc activities such as payroll processing, benefits administration, processing of hires and terminations, year end reconciliations, and projects
  • Manage and maintain the accuracy and integrity of the benefits feed to third party administrator.
  • Support projects that impact payroll and benefits admin, including resources planning, requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, etc.
  • Manage the delivery of shared services to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll data for five payrolls that support the Canadian Staples businesses

Some Of What You Need

  • Post secondary education with a focus on payroll and benefits administration or equivalent work experience
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM)4-6 years of management experience with a payroll system supporting multiple payrolls, for multiple business units and companies, using multiple systems, with multiple compensation plans and policies across all provinces in Canada
  • Minimum of 3 years of benefits administration experience working with benefits providers and an online benefits tool (enrolment and product system)
  • Minimum of 4 years of management experience working with time and attendance
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce and Kronos Dimensions are definite assets
  • Experience in the retail sector is an asset
  • Bilingual work experience is an asset – fluent in English and French
