Clark Builders is hiring a Senior Superintendent in Edmonton to support projects across Northern Alberta. The Senior Superintendent provides overall onsite leadership, administrative oversight, and technical management for construction projects. This role directs several onsite team members and is accountable for project safety, contracts, schedule, quality, cost control, people, and administration. The Senior Superintendent ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to Clark Builders’ standards while protecting the interests of the company, employees, clients, and subcontractors.

The Senior Superintendent ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to Clark Builders’ standards while protecting the interests of the company, employees, clients, and subcontractors.

Duties & Responsibilities
Safety
- Lead proactive project safety and security practices aligned with the Clark Builders Safety & Loss Prevention Program and legislation.
- Promote and support ongoing safety training and development in coordination with the Safety Department.
- Understand and enforce Prime Contractor responsibilities when applicable.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of industry safety standards and coach teams toward zero incidents.
- Integrate safety into all construction activities and evaluate leading/lagging indicators to implement corrective actions.
- Maintain thorough understanding of contract types used by Clark Builders.
- Possess complete knowledge of contract documents, drawings, specifications, and key drivers.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and BD/Estimating to develop construction programs including procedures, temporary facilities, equipment, and manpower.
- Manage procurement, utilization, and control of tools and equipment; plan costs proactively and use Northstar where practical.
- Predetermine and schedule temporary construction services efficiently.
- Establish effective communication with consultants, subcontractors, and clients.
- Support BD/Estimating with constructability and execution planning.
- Maintain accountability for planning relative to contract deliverables and assist in recovery planning.
- Understand the project estimate and share cost accountability with the Project Manager.
- Ensure accurate submission of required project documentation.
- Review drawings and documentation for discrepancies and constructability concerns.
- Track and manage potential contract changes and field time/material activities.
- Participate in month-end reviews and lead trade meetings.
- Conduct risk analysis and manage project-specific risks.
- Support development of the Master Schedule; lead ongoing schedule management.
- Apply the Last Planner System for site scheduling and coordination.
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers; verify necessary permits and approvals.
- Assist commissioning and handover scheduling for structured closeout.
- Facilitate trade start-up meetings and develop recovery plans.
- Act as a scheduling resource; proficient with Microsoft Project and P6.
- Develop project QA/QC plans and ensure documented compliance.
- Coordinate inspection agencies, address report findings, and escalate scope concerns.
- Oversee project completion and handover planning.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of building systems and construction best practices.
- Possess experience across all construction phases.
- Maintain and update the project execution plan considering all phases and seasonal impacts.
- Direct and support workforce training and development.
- Participate in CB University initiatives.
- Assist with performance evaluations and foster team growth.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and mentor junior staff.
- Adhere to all Clark Builders Policies and Procedures.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 10 years trade experience with a Journeyman ticket or relevant education.
- Minimum 10 years site leadership/project management experience.
- Experience executing complex projects exceeding $100M.
- Exposure to lean principles and collaborative planning.
- Experience with Last Planner System and pull planning (asset).
- Completion of required training per CB Progression Matrix.
- Current First Aid, Leadership for Safety Excellence, and Prime Contractor certification.
- Relevant safety training; valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Demonstrated alignment with Clark Builders' Core Values.
