This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic, hands-on Manager of Payroll & Benefits to guide a high-performing team supporting employees across both Canada and the U.S. This position is well-suited for a leader with strong expertise in payroll, benefits, compliance, and process optimization within complex, multi-jurisdictional settings.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of payroll professionals; provide training, guidance, and oversight.
- Oversee Canadian and US payroll for multiple locations and various pay types including salary, hourly, contract, piece-rate and unions
- Manage payroll tax reporting, remittances, reconciliations, and year-end filings (T4s, W2s, etc.).
- Lead the administration of seniority, leave entitlements, and benefit plans (RRSPs, 401Ks, etc.).
- Manage payroll aspects of a piece rate wage system.
- Support the implementation of a new time & attendance and payroll platform
- Build strong cross-functional relationships (Finance, HR, Operations)
- Assist in communicating payroll-related changes to employees.
- PCP or CPM designation required
- 8+ years experience in a high volume, multi-state, multi-province complex environment
- Strong knowledge of CRA, IRS, WCB, and Canadian and U.S. labour and employment standards.
- Experience with past payroll implementations is an asset
- Multi-Systems experience with payroll and time & attendance platforms
- Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data manipulation).
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
