Tax Specialist

Graymont is seeking a Tax Specialist to support global tax compliance and provision activities while gaining exposure to international tax planning. We’re looking for a curious, growth-oriented professional eager to develop expertise and contribute to a dynamic, global organization.

Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Tax Specialist will be part of a highly valued department in the organization. In this role, you will collaborate with a tenured group of tax professionals and external advisors on a variety of complex tax matters. You will contribute to process improvements, support strategic business discussions, and help ensure tax considerations are integrated into organizational decision-making.

Responsibilities

Tax Compliance and Provision

  • Preparation of annual income tax provisions and tax disclosures under IFRS for Canadian, U.S. and potentially other foreign entities in the Graymont Group.
  • Preparation of annual Canadian Federal and Provincial income tax returns.
  • Preparation of annual U.S. Federal and various State income tax returns and other filings.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual income tax returns for foreign entities.
  • Preparation of the annual foreign affiliate reporting required in Canada (i.e., T1134) and non-arm’s length transactions reporting (i.e. T106).
  • Assist in the calculation of corporate tax instalments and balances and help coordinate the timely payment in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist in gathering information for the preparation of transfer pricing documentation.
  • Assist in the maintenance of fixed asset and tax depreciation detail for all U.S. entities using appropriate tax software.
  • Preparation of annual income tax returns applicable for Canadian entities in foreign jurisdictions (i.e., U.S. treaty-based returns).


Tax Planning and Special Projects

  • Provide support and assistance for various projects related to tax issues and planning.
  • Assist, when necessary, with transfer pricing issues.
  • Assist, when necessary, in gathering information required for Canadian and U.S. related tax audits.
  • Assist in research of various income and other tax issues as required.
  • Provide support to the financial services team as may be required for tax and other related issues.
  • Research potential credits and incentives available to Graymont.
  • Assist with special projects, ad-hoc requests, and related duties as required.


Qualifications

  • Education: Candidates should be progressing toward or have completed a professional accounting designation (CPA) or hold a degree from a recognized institution with an emphasis in accounting and/or income tax.
  • Professional Experience: Experience in the preparation and or review of Canadian and/or U.S. income tax returns and tax provisions.
  • Professional Development: Actively pursuing expanded knowledge in U.S., Canadian, and/or international taxation through continuing education and varied practical assignments.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with any of the following is considered an asset:


 U.S. and Canadian income tax preparation software

 U.S., Canadian, and/or international tax research platforms

 JD Edwards and Cognos

 Automation tools and/or AI-driven applications

  • Travel: Some travel may be required.
