Salary Range : $ 18.84 to 20.16$ hourly Schedule: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours/week) Language Requirement: Bilingual (- - B ) ( definition )

NOTE:
- First round of interviews will start late January 2026 for selected candidates who have submitted applications at that time. There may be opportunities for those hired as camp counsellors to also work as casual guides in the Spring before the start of camp training if they also meet the requirements for the guide position
The Camp Counsellor creates a fun and safe environment where children are inspired and informed about Canada’s scientific and technological heritage at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum. Camp Counsellors lead children through daily farm camp activities (e.g. horse grooming, ice cream making) and bring camp programming to life through songs, games, crafts and strong leadership skills.
EDUCATION
- This is a student position, open only to students returning to post-secondary studies in the Fall.
EXPERIENCE
- interpretation, education or theatrical experience in museums, parks, tourism, schools and/or related fields;
- experience working with children, including children with disabilities; farm experience and large animal handling experience are considered assets
- of science, agriculture, nutrition, food science is an asset;
- of learning theories and interpretive techniques; of Ingenium's mandate
- deliver dynamic interpretive and educational programming;
- simplify complex information for children;
- required to perform physical labour of lifting and moving heavy objects of around 40 lbs. (chairs/tables, small animals, etc.), walking animals like horses, donkeys and calves (training will be provided) and being active for long periods of time indoors and outdoors (accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities);
- work under pressure;
- work effectively in a team situation;
- work well without continuous supervision;
- communicate orally in both official languages; effectively represent Ingenium in a professional manner
- experience and/or desire to work with children and youth in a camp setting;
- friendly, responsible, service-oriented attitude;
- excellent communication and people skills;
- creative problem solver;
- a high degree of initiative and judgement; demonstrates interest in agriculture and/or food science
