The Next Stop Canada (NSC) Information & Referral Specialist Bilingual, equips overseas immigrants with essential resources to make informed decisions about settling in Canada and understanding life here before arrival. This role involves developing and maintaining online resources for settlement information, orientation, and community connections services in both Canadian official languages. The Specialist conducts needs assessments, assists with content creation, and ensures the accuracy of settlement-related information. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is key to expanding outreach and strengthening community ties.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct online Needs and Assets Assessments and provide Information, Orientation, and Referrals to overseas immigrants before they arrive in Canada, focusing on clients' multidimensional preliminary needs through a collaborative process.
  • Assist in developing, facilitating, and maintaining Next Stop Canada online content, in both Canadian official languages, including webinars, pre-recorded information sessions, live chat features, and social media.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the online Knowledge Management System in both Canadian official languages through research, collection, and organization of settlement-related information, ensuring relevance, accuracy, and up-to-date content.
  • Provides support in translating program materials into French.
  • Perform data entry, input, and retrieval in the centralized client file management system within Salesforce and the government service information tracking database, iCARE, ensuring data completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop and facilitate online information sessions and webinars; maintain and enhance the existing community information network in both Canadian official languages.
  • Work closely with and provide support to the Senior Team to achieve quality, fiscal, and program targets; maintain and submit statistical and progress reports.
  • Work with the NSC Team Leader and Pre-Arrival Services Program Integrity Coordinator to troubleshoot technical issues, minimize site interruption, and optimize site responsiveness.
  • Conduct local and global outreach to raise program awareness and increase client registration; develop and maintain partnerships amongst local and international partners to establish referral mechanisms; maintain and enhance existing community information network.
  • Support the Community Engagement and Content NSC team in creating and managing platform and social media content, flyers, newsletters, and other outreach materials.
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information and compliance with YMCA and funder privacy policies.
  • Remain alert to immigration and newcomer trends and use this information to inform content development and improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

You bring:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent training/work experience.
  • Minimum 1-year experience working with newcomers, providing settlement information and referrals.
  • Experience creating online content (e.g., webinars, live chats, vlogs, blogs, e-learning modules) and demonstrated ability to learn new software.
  • Advanced social media skills (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.).
  • Strong proficiency in personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and internet search tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of settlement and immigration barriers, trends, resources and services.
  • Some understanding of best practices for online usability, accessibility and safety.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively as part of a team in a collaborative environment, with attention to detail and adaptability to changing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with participants, community partners, staff, and volunteers.
  • Self-motivation and enthusiasm about leveraging technology to connect with and engage people.
  • Flexibility regarding work locations and hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging.
