Salary

  • Investments Infrastructure 20: $127,380 - $212,298 plus a performance-based incentive

Location:

  • FinDev Canada headquarters is in downtown Montreal. For the right candidate, Ottawa or Toronto will be considered, with the flexibility to work under a hybrid model (home/office).

Position & Team Overview

FinDev Canada is seeking an experienced Senior Investment Officer in the Sustainable Infrastructure team, who will play a key role in originating, structuring, and managing tailored financial solutions for private sector companies in Sustainable Infrastructure sectors, including Energy, Transport, Water, and Digital Infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-oriented and client-focused professional with strong project finance expertise to contribute to development through the private sector across emerging markets and developing economies.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Business Development: Identify and develop new business opportunities with current and potential clients and partners.
  • Transaction Management: Lead key aspects of transaction delivery from origination, due diligence, and deal structuring to negotiation and closing of documentation for projects in the infrastructure sector.
  • Risk Assessment: Analyze transaction risks and mitigants and present recommendations internally.
  • Internal Communication: Collaborate effectively with management and internal stakeholders (Risk, Impact, Legal, and committees) throughout the investment and approval process.
  • Portfolio Management: Follow-up with the Portfolio team a portfolio of customers/transactions; monitor risks; recommend mitigation strategies and support options.
  • Relationship Building and Industry Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with clients, banking, and DFI/multilateral partners to develop high-quality business opportunities, represent FinDev Canada at industry events.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to improving investment processes, tools, and practices in line with leading approaches.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance to junior team members on transaction analysis, deal management and credit process.

What We’re Looking For

Must-haves

  • CFA, MBA, or MSc in Finance (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of relevant experience in Sustainable Infrastructure, ideally addressing both project and corporate finance
  • Strong understanding of sustainable development principles
  • Proven experience in structuring and negotiating complex transactions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Development Finance Institutions or Multilateral Development Banks
  • Knowledge of economic and development issues in developing countries, preferably in Latin America, the Caribbean, and/or Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French and/or Spanish preferred
