Position Summary :

The Dietary Aide is required to assist in tray assembly for patient meal services while maintaining high levels of cleanliness in the department, including the dish room. Dietary Aides are responsible for assembling and preparing items, other than hot foods, for patient service beltline and other duties as assigned.

The incumbent is responsible for serving meals to the staff and visitors and follow proper sanitation safety guidelines. This is all in addition to following established standards, departmental/regional policies and procedures and government regulations and legislation.

Position Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Current Food Handling Certification
  • Previous experience in a food service environment with knowledge of good sanitation practices.
  • Work safely in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act/WHMIS.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of patient/corporate information is imperative.
  • Successfully able to perform their function in accordance with prescribed standards that focuses on the priority of People Safety and the delivery of the highest standard of Quality Care.
  • Demonstrate the physical and mental capabilities necessary for proper and efficient performance of the essential duties of the position.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Basic computer use skills including Microsoft Office and previous diet office experience.
  • Knowledge of sanitation, hygiene, food production, safety, and understanding of therapeutic diet.
  • Previous professional experience in a health care setting.
  • Excellent communication skills – including ability to read and write English.
