TRANSIT MECHANIC APPRENTICE
(COMMERCIAL TRANSPORT APPRENTICE)
Permanent, Full-time

West Vancouver Transit has an immediate opening for a permanent full-time Transit Mechanic Apprentice. This is mechanical work at the apprentice level. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position will be responsible for: performing mechanical overhaul, repair, and maintenance tasks on transit vehicles in the shop or in the field, completing a variety of complex mechanical assessments; diagnosing various electronic components by performing diagnostic testing and troubleshooting using relevant computer software; submitting reports and maintaining records; performing a variety of gas and electrical welding tasks; and other related work as required.

40 hours per week
4 days on/3 consecutive days off (consistent workweek and schedule)
Rate Of Pay
$39.17 per hour-Red Seal Rate *Plus tool allowance
(Plus: $1.95/hr shift differential for afternoon shifts and Sunday pay premiums and a retention allowance)

- Registration as a Truck and Transport Mechanic with SkilledTradesBC
- A Red Seal Certificate of Qualification as a Truck and Transport Mechanic on completion of the apprenticeship program
- Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate with air brake endorsement
- Class 2 or 3 Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement
