Would you like to take on a stimulating, high-impact challenge? We are looking for an Advisor, Geomatics & Property Data. Please note that the candidate may be based in one of our 4 offices: Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto or Ottawa.

The role

We are seeking a versatile and motivated Advisor well-versed in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and real property concepts to support the activities of Alto’s Real Property team. The role includes active contributions to the development of the team’s tools, supporting analysis, operational processes and partnerships.

In addition to implementing the team’s GIS and data needs with Alto’s private developer partner, the Advisor will be required to obtain data from suppliers and other partners to support activities including spatial analysis mandates, property due diligence and the preparation of land agreements.

Reporting to the Director, Urban Integration, the ideal candidate will have strong GIS skills, sound information management practices, and an understanding of real property concepts and urban utility networks.

In collaboration with other team members, the Advisor will contribute to the successful execution of project deliverables within scope, budget, and schedule.

The Responsibilities

As Alto continues to develop and establish the frameworks that will guide its deliverables and relationships with partner organizations and suppliers, the Advisor’s responsibilities are set to evolve as the project reaches new levels of maturity. These responsibilities may include:

  • Collaborate with Alto team members including the Information Technology team and the private developer partner to assist in the development and implementation of the project’s GIS platform and databases, as well as the compatible integration of georeferenced data with other information technology tools and partner systems.
  • Coordinating information-sharing and controls with partner agencies related to land matters, monitoring mechanisms for land acquisition activities and progress.
  • Conducting spatial analysis to support the Real Property team’s activities.
  • Manage property records in accordance with geospatial standards, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Maintain high-quality land-based data and property records to support reliable decision-making and compliance with established standards.
  • Preparing analysis reports, technical documentation, and presentations for project stakeholders, including internal, external and regulatory authorities.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, surveying, information technology, real estate, urban planning, civil engineering, geography, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience using and/or maintaining GIS platforms and databases, preparing reports and conducting spatial analysis.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously to meet deliverable deadlines, in accordance with project goals and objectives.
  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise (Pro, Experience Builder, Survey123, Field Maps etc.), FME Flow and Form and/or other GIS platforms.
  • Knowledge of Python and/or SQL.
  • Proven capacity in the drafting and presentation of spatial analysis reports.
  • Being fluent in both Canadian official languages is an asset.
  • Experience in land surveying is an asset.
