Salary: $

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with RJC ’ s internal Building Enclosure Project Engineers, creating envelope solutions that contribute to the reduction of carbon in buildings and maximize energy efficiency to meet and exceed current code. This includes working projects targeting sustainability standards such as BC Step Code, Zero Carbon Building, Passive House, LEED etc.
  • Be mentored and supported by leading industry experts to help you grow your technical skills, business understanding and overall career path.
  • Work closely with Project Engineers within the project team environment, through the life cycle of a project from conceptual and preliminary stages of the design through to completion
  • Collaborate with architects and other design consultants on design review for new construction projects, including development of building enclosure details that align with industry best practice
  • Engage in site assessment, evaluation of existing buildings, preparation of reports and studies
  • Participate in the development of drawings and specifications for projects involving new and existing buildings
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis, including basic project costing
  • Perform Building Envelope Thermal Bridging Calculations to support design team with effective assembly RSI values
  • Follow quality control procedures established by the practice
  • Participate in administration/construction review on active construction sites

Professional Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering – Preference for those candidates with completed courses in Building Science
  • Registered (or eligible for registration) as an Engineer-in-Training with EGBC

Experience:

  • 0 to 3 years previous experience in building enclosure engineering, engineering or construction
  • Experience in a consulting firm environment
