Purpose
As an Associate Director, Treasury Management Officer (TMO) dedicated to Canadian Non-Bank Financial Institutions, you will lead origination and growth efforts within a portfolio of NBFIs, including asset managers, pension funds, insurance companies, and financial sponsors.
You will act as a trusted advisor and single point of contact, delivering Scotiabank’s Global Transaction Banking (GTB) solutions across liquidity management, payables and receivables optimization, emerging payment technologies, and working capital strategies. Your mandate is to drive new business, deepen existing relationships, and position Scotiabank as the leading partner for Canadian NBFIs through a consultative, solutions-driven approach. This is an opportunity to become a leading voice in transaction banking within the NBFI space, delivering impactful solutions globally that drive client success and deliver on the Bank’s strategies.
What You’ll Do:
- Growing relationship revenue by successfully prospecting and sourcing new transaction banking business while retaining and expanding existing client relationships.
- Manage relationships with CFOs, Treasurers, VPs of Finance, and Controllers, to provide integrated transaction banking solutions within a consultative and client driven framework.
- Deliver thought leadership to the market, prospects, and clients, in collaboration with solution/product partners on all transaction banking related topics at client roundtables, industry conferences, webinars, and client events.
- Coordinate with solutions specialists to deliver a seamless end to end client experience and lead business process reviews aligned to key client sales opportunities.
- Partner with internal product stakeholders to represent client perspectives in the development and evolution of products and solutions.
- Collaborate with key partners including Group Treasury, Global Risk Management, Capital Markets, Corporate & Investment Banking, Global Operations, Fulfillment and Servicing.
- Responsible for collaborating with internal partners to keep abreast of the banks’ framework for managing inherent risks associated with the Payment Intermediary space and that clients are assessed against the banks risk framework throughout the client lifecycle.
- Coaching and developing junior talent.
What You'll Bring:
- 3–5 years of experience in transaction banking, including global cash management, liquidity management, trade and working capital solutions; or corporate/global banking experience with a focus on Non-Bank Financial Institutions.
- Strong knowledge of transaction banking products, credit and risk processes, and pricing strategies.
- Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to build and maintain client and prospect relationships.
- Proficient in using CRM tools for logging sales activities (call reports, deal entry, contact management).
- Demonstrates accountability and urgency in achieving goals.
- Proven negotiation and active listening skills, with strong critical and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Committed to managing operational and enterprise risk effectively.
- Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets as a top individual contributor.
- Creative problem-solving skills and a drive for process improvement.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands, lead small teams, and delegate tasks effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred.
- Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation is an asset.
- International banking experience preferred.
- Spanish or French language proficiency is an asset.
