We are currently hiring a Temporary Supervisor, Warehouse and Shipping to join the team at our Goderich Evaporation facility in Goderich, ON.
Goderich Plant: Compass Minerals’ Goderich Plant has operated since 1867, after an unsuccessful search for oil uncovered a vast bed of rock salt under Goderich. Using mechanical evaporation, the plant produces high-purity, fine- and coarse-grained salt products in packages and in bulk for commercial, agricultural and industrial applications. The plant also packages rock salt from the mine that is used for deicing and water conditioning.
Goderich is named Canada’s Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1.5 hours from London and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.
Summary:
Reporting to the Production Superintendent, this position is responsible for the safe and productive operation of the Warehousing and Packaging Department. This position monitors and directs the packaging and warehousing process from incoming raw material to shipment. This position supervises unionized employees.
How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Ensuring production equipment and process efficiencies perform at or above established standards and implementing effective countermeasures in the event, the standard is not being met.
- Ensuring employees perform their duties according to Environmental Health, Safety, and Security and provide coaching on a proactive and corrective action basis.
- Complete regular workplace safety inspection audits.
- Ensure employees perform their duties according to established Food Safety Practices (GMP’s) and provide coaching on a proactive and corrective action basis.
- Provide performance management and development/coaching of unionized employees.
- Oversee the plant finished goods inventory to maintain accurate inventory and finished goods inventory cycle counting.
- Manage the shipping activity of finished goods to ensure established Employee Safety and Food Safety (GMP’s) practices are followed and provide coaching on a proactive and corrective action basis.
- Enter production data into the E1
- Resolve issues surrounding the inventory control system in E1 including inventory reconciliation, truck scheduling, and
- Create and maintain employee work schedules.
- Liaise with customer service, truck drivers and logistics.
- Perform other related duties are required.
What should you bring to the role?
- Minimum High School Diploma.
- Preferred post-secondary education in a related field.
- 5 years’ experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing setting.
- Previous supervisory experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset.

What is the work schedule?
- Monday-Friday 40hr work week, onsite
- Participation in on-call rotation for plant coverage as per the annual schedule with other staff members
