Senior Specialist, Technology Application, Brampton, ON

The Consent Management & Data Operations team at Loblaw is seeking a Senior Specialist with background in Cloud and relational databases, data analysis, visualization and dashboarding. You will have the opportunity to support large data initiatives by applying your expertise in obtaining, analyzing, and manipulating data to identify insights and data patterns. You will be responsible for crafting and maintaining data transformations, data quality, building dashboards and system documentation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and develop data pipelines supporting data ingestion, cleansing, transformations, data validations and data delivery including but not limited to writing programs in Python, SQL and Java.
  • Responsible for the extraction, analysis and visualization of sophisticated information from a variety of data sources including files, streams, APIs, databases as well as transformation of extracted data from large and disconnected datasets into insights suitable for presentation to various audiences.
  • Investigate data reliability & quality, build dashboards for technical and business audience showing insights from data-observability, monitoring and business reporting
  • Work cross-functionally with various other teams including digital privacy groups on data projects to deliver innovative and scalable solutions to business objectives
  • Build documentation on requirements, interface contracts, end-to-end data flows, data quality and validation

What you Bring:

  • Computer Science/Software/Engineering Degree or equivalent with experience in Python/Java/SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with cloud platforms (eg. GCP/AWS/Azure) and relational databases (eg. BigQuery, Postgres etc.), using advanced data extraction and querying tools
  • Experienced hands-on programmer focused on data-analytics including checking for data quality issues, data transformations and metadata management
  • Experience in deriving relevant business insights from data supported by high-impact visualizations and dashboards.
  • Excellent team player. Familiarity with Agile development, Scrum ceremonies and tools such as Jira/Confluence are an asset.
