Summary
The Sr. Exploration Geologist position is an opportunity to take on a key role within a tight-knot team tasked with the exploration of the historical Keno Hill Silver District. Reporting directly to the Exploration Manager, you will be responsible for helping oversee all aspects of site exploration, including the management of staff, contractors and consultants, effective tracking and communication of progress and results, and the training and mentorship of junior staff to ensure the safe completion of Hecla’s objectives.

Keno Hill, is one of the highest-grade silver districts in the world, is situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. It comprises 242 square kilometres (km2) with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical past-producing mine sites. Keno Hill is expected to produce 2.7-3.1 million ounces of silver in 2025 as the mine ramps up production.
The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Here’s What You Can Expect In This Role
Ensure exploration team members are working safely and comply with requirements to prevent incidents and injuries: including hazard identification and reporting; use and maintenance of PPE; that personnel are appropriately trained. Amend or implement new safety measures as necessary. Communicate effectively with management and stakeholders. Maintain formal quarterly progress reporting, attend weekly update meetings and ensure that safety, environmental and other project issues are communicated quickly and clearly.Work with the Exploration Manager and Senior Geologists to schedule and allocate departmental workload, ensure efficient workflows and the timely completion of exploration goals.Assist with contractor management to maximize drilling efficiency, recovery and ensure compliance with Hecla’s site safety and environmental requirements and permit/regulatory commitments. Provide leadership, mentoring and training to personnel; foster and develop the exploration team to safely and efficiently achieve all project objectives.Review existing geological data and interpretations and develop a comprehensive knowledge of the property geology and exploration history. Assist in target generation and property-wide prospect evaluation and ranking.Work with wide array of consultants to advance geological research studies and initiatives.Coordinate the collection, compilation, management, and interpretation of geological information from field geology programs including mapping, prospecting, geophysics, and drilling.Collaborate with the wider Yukon exploration team and resource geology team from initial mineral potential assessment to resource generation and expansion including QA/QC implementation and reporting. Assist with annual budgeting tasks, track expenditure and progress to ensure programs are completed on time and within budget.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in geology with post-graduate degree desirable. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in exploration drilling programs. Experience supervising geological field and drilling campaigns and managing staff and contractors required to complete exploration objectives.3D software experience (preferentially Leapfrog or Mineplan), GIS and Microsoft Office.Experience in developing geological models, with targeting and exploration experience. An excellent understanding of geological settings, ore-forming processes, geochemistry and structural geology. An ability to think about geologic processes across time and at different scales.Strong communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and information professionally in writing and verbally. Experience developing budgets, tracking and reporting expenditures. Self-motivated, organized and possesses leadership abilities.A commitment to safety, environment, and community.Pre-employment Requirements:

Safety, Health, Environmental Responsibilities And Accountabilities
All Hecla personnel shall strive to achieve best practice in safety, health, and environmental and assist in the control of incidents, injuries, and loss. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Employees will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including snow and ice, as well as extreme temperatures ranging from cold to heat. The work environment may involve contact with potentially hazardous wildlife, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the use of explosives. There is also a risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration. Noise levels can occasionally be loud, depending on the task or location on site.
Work Location & Schedule
This is a fly-in fly-out position based at a remote mining camp, operating on a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off with some flexibility required. Camp accommodations and meals are provided while on site. All travel to and from the mine site is arranged through a designated travel agency and coordinated from approved flight hubs.
To ensure efficient travel logistics, we are primarily seeking candidates who reside in the Yukon, British Columbia, and Alberta, particularly near major transportation centers within these regions.
