The Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (EFry) is a charitable organization that supports women,
girls, and children at risk, involved in or affected by the justice system. Our programs work to break the
cycle of poverty, addiction, mental illness, homelessness, and crime.



We are recruiting a Part-Time educator for a one-year temporary position. As an Educator with the
Elizabeth Fry Society (EFry), you will play a vital role in empowering young women from vulnerable
backgrounds to achieve their GED and pursue post-secondary education. You will design and deliver
inclusive, engaging, and industry-aligned curriculum that is responsive to the diverse needs and lived
experiences of each learner. In this role, you will foster a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning
environment that encourages academic achievement, personal growth, and long-term success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop curriculum and implement engaging lesson plans that align with educational and industry

standards, while remaining sensitive to the needs of vulnerable populations.
  • Create a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that fosters student engagement and
promotes a positive learning environment.
  • Provide individualized academic support and mentorship to students to enhance their learning
experience.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to enhance program effectiveness and student
outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to remain informed of best practices in trauma-
informed education and learner-centered approaches.
  • Communicate regularly with students regarding their performance, progress, and classroom
activities to support their academic development.
  • Ensure a safe, respectful, and welcoming classroom environment that reflects EFry’s values of
dignity, equity, and empowerment.
  • Conduct regular assessments and maintain documentation to track student progress, identify
learning needs, and support continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in education is required
  • Must have Valid BC Teaching Certificate
  • Previous teaching experience is essential
  • Extensive experience working with vulnerable populations

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, or currently in the process of obtaining one
  • Strong curriculum development and lesson planning skills aligned with industry standards
  • Ability to create inclusive, trauma-informed, and supportive learning environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with students and promote a safe,
respectful classroom atmosphere
  • Proficiency in assessing student progress and adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Experience working effectively with vulnerable populations, demonstrating empathy, patience, and
cultural sensitivity
  • Ability to provide individualized academic support and mentorship
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills


MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C.
  • Evidence of a Tuberculosis Test and compliance with the TB Control Program.
  • Doctor’s Note of fitness required.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Review (Vulnerable Sector Search).
  • Class 5 Driver’s License & Driving Record.
