Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse - Operating Room Technician (LPN-ORT) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN-ORT works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be able to lift 25lbs and have the physical ability to push, pull, bend, and stand for prolonged periods of time (more than 30 minutes). Minimum two years recent acute care nursing experience. Demonstrates excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written/oral communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized and rapid moving environment. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team. Demonstrates advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Computer skills including experience with electronic charting & Microsoft Outlook. You must successfully complete all portions of the Perioperative Course at MacEwan University, including the OR clinical preceptor portion to become an ORT and retain a position in the OR. This position is subject to provisions in LOU # 7 RE: OPERATING ROOM AND ORTHOPEDIC TECHNICIAN TRAINING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY in the AUPE Collective Agreement.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous OR/Surgical experience.
