Why we need you

You like clean closes, balanced schedules, and numbers you can stand behind.

We’re growing, and that growth increases volume, complexity, and the need for strong controls. We need an Assistant Controller who can help keep month-end moving, keep the balance sheet tight, and make sure the day-to-day accounting is accurate, consistent, and audit-ready.

This role is for someone who enjoys ownership: reconciling what matters, spotting issues early, partnering with operations to fix root causes, and helping the Controller maintain a reliable financial engine.

Here's What You'll Be Doing

You’ll be the backbone of our dealership accounting operations, supporting the Controller with hands-on execution across core accounting functions. You’ll help keep our financial house in order, ensure accuracy day-to-day, and build the experience you need to grow into a senior dealership accounting position over time.

  • Assisting with maintaining the general ledger, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and basic account clean-up
  • Supporting month-end close activities such as bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, floor plan reconciliation support, and balance sheet schedules
  • Overseeing and reviewing daily accounting activities, including cash postings, deal postings, parts and service reconciliation, and daily deposits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Supporting payroll processing, including data preparation for commissions and bonuses, under the supervision of the Controller
  • Helping ensure timely remittances for HST/GST, payroll taxes, and other statutory filings
  • Supporting vehicle accounting processes for new, used, and dealer trade deals, ensuring documentation completeness and accuracy
  • Working with internal departments to resolve routine accounting questions and discrepancies
  • Supporting audit requests, internal controls, and compliance requirements
  • Providing day-to-day support to the accounting team as assigned

This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected. It is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required by the incumbent. Incumbent may be asked to perform other duties as required.

You Need These Qualifications

  • You have post-secondary education in accounting or finance
  • You have 3–5 years of accounting experience; dealership experience is preferred
  • You know accounting principles and reconciliations, and you’re comfortable getting into the details
  • You’re known for strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn dealership operations
  • You have good organizational and time-management skills in a deadline-driven environment
  • You’re a clear communicator with a collaborative working style
  • You bring a positive attitude, accountability, and a desire to grow professionally

If would be nice if you have

  • You have expertise in Reynolds & Reynolds
  • You’re pursuing (or have completed) a professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
  • You have experience supporting floor plan, vehicle accounting, and/or dealership month-end processes
  • You’ve been part of a team that’s continuously improving controls, reporting, and compliance
