Shop Supervisor at Bison Transport Inc.

As the Shop Supervisor, you will supervise and lead our team of professional technicians on the shop floor. You will utilize your proven supervisory skills to provide leadership and coaching to mechanics of all experience levels. You will assist with trouble shooting and solving of mechanical problems as well as ensuring productivity and work quality goals are met. You will communicate with Planners, Operations, Drivers and other departments as necessary in order to make decisions and adjustments to the workload schedule. Using your excellent organization skills, you will partner with Shop Managers to ensure that production and quality objectives are met.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise Maintenance Administration and technical staff which includes day to day management and education, information, tools, training, action plans and providing support
  • Management and promotion of maintenance programs
  • Responsible for ensuring on-the-floor resource availability is sufficient to complete workload, by assigning and controlling overtime, time-off and vacation days
  • Monitor and administer safe shop and work practices
  • Ensure database information, files, repair entry and schedules are accurate
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings on a daily, project and management goals.


Our Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • 1-3 years prior supervisory experience in a maintenance environment would be considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft office suite.
  • Established interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to positively motivate individuals and teams
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Consistently performs work in a safe manner, following work instructions and safe operating procedures
  • A Journeyman’s certifications or equivalent experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain composure, effectiveness and flexibility under pressure will be key to your success in this position.
