What this role is all about:
As our Communications Manager, you’ll shape and execute communication strategies that support product launches, marketing campaigns, and ongoing member engagement. You’ll collaborate across a wide range of teams including, but not limited to, Product, Marketing, Member Experience, Governance, Risk and Compliance to help ensure clear, consistent, and compelling messaging is connected at every touchpoint.
This role is ideal for a creative storyteller who embraces new tools and platforms, works well with brand partners to develop big ideas, and loves a great challenge. Reporting to the AVP, Strategic Member Communications, you have strong strategic instincts, work independently, and bring a passion for making financial services easier to understand and more meaningful.
This role is open to hybrid working arrangements within British Columbia.

What you’ll do:
Strategic Content Planning and Design
- Develop and implement content strategies and message architectures that translate business priorities such as product launches, governance, risk, integration, and operational initiatives into clear, actionable, and audience-focused communications.
- Create content frameworks and workflows that enable consistency, efficiency, and scalability across teams and channels.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders (Product, Integration, Governance, Risk, Operations, Marketing, Brand) to align communication goals with business outcomes, ensuring every message strengthens member understanding and confidence.
- Maintain oversight of the communications calendar and messaging cadence to ensure timely, brand-aligned delivery across owned, earned, and paid channels.
- Lead the creation of strategic content plans, key messages, and supporting materials for initiatives that require strong member engagement and understanding (e.g., digital transitions, product changes, regulatory updates, and integration activities).
- Translate complex information into clear, human-centered narratives that reflect Beem’s tone of voice and values.
- Ensure messages are tailored for each channel: website, email, advisor communications, intranet, and branch signage while maintaining a consistent and unified member experience.
- Collaborate with Brand, Marketing, and Operations to ensure accessibility, inclusivity, and brand consistency across all materials.
- Partner with Risk, Governance, and Legal teams to ensure compliance and transparency in all member-facing communications.
- Develop and operationalize content playbooks for sensitive or high-impact communications (e.g., incident response, crisis management, or policy change).
- Support the Incident Response Team (IRT) in developing communication protocols, templates, and escalation workflows that enable rapid, coordinated responses.
- Anticipate and manage potential communication risks by embedding scenario planning and mitigation strategies into content workflows.
- Collaborate with Product and Integration teams to create launch communication strategies that educate and engage members through milestone-based storytelling (Awareness → Education → Launch → Post-Launch Support).
- Design content ecosystems that build comfort and confidence through change—such as integration activities, digital transformations, and new product experiences.
- Partner with internal communications and change management teams to align employee readiness with external member messaging.
- Define and monitor KPIs for content performance, engagement, and clarity, translating insights into actionable improvements.
- Leverage data and feedback (e.g., call drivers, digital analytics, frontline insights) to refine messages and delivery methods in real time.
- Lead debriefs and retrospectives following major initiatives or incidents to identify lessons learned and evolve future content strategies.
- Coach and mentor team members and cross-functional contributors to strengthen organizational storytelling and communication skills.
- Foster a collaborative environment that values curiosity, agility, and continuous learning.
- Champion Beem’s “one voice” approach, ensuring clarity, empathy, and consistency across all communications that reach members.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing Communications, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in communications, content strategy, or marketing within a complex or regulated environment (e.g., financial services, insurance, utilities, or public sector).
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing content strategies and message architectures that align with organizational goals and enhance member or customer experience.
- Proven ability to translate complex operational, technical, or regulatory information into clear, human-centered communications across multiple channels.
- Experience supporting product launches, integration or change initiatives, governance communications, and risk or incident response communications.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format for different audiences and platforms.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI-powered tools and emerging technologies to accelerate content strategy development, improve workflow efficiency, and extract actionable insights that support Beem’s Business Innovation and Digital-First directives.
- Experience building or optimizing content planning tools, workflows, and governance models that drive consistency, collaboration, and agility across teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Experience coaching project teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Familiarity with performance measurement methods (e.g., engagement analytics, sentiment analysis, and call drivers) to evaluate communication impact and continuously improve outcomes.
