GRADE: Grade 7
HIRING RANGE: $76,503 to $90,848

Role
Reporting to the Manager, CEO & Future Focused Programs, the Advisory Committee Program Lead is responsible for the strategic execution, administration, and evaluation of WSPS Advisory Committee programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and Prevention Priorities. These committees represent over 130 influential members across Manufacturing, Service, and Agricultural sectors, making this role pivotal in fostering collaboration, driving engagement, and advancing WSPS’s mission.
The Advisory Committee Program Lead will plan, develop, and implement initiatives that strengthen committee effectiveness and deliver measurable impact. This role requires professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive information, as well as a proactive, resourceful approach to supporting WSPS’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Note: Percentages refer to approximate % of time spent on each area, over the course of a given year.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE PROGRAMS OVERSIGHT (55%)
- Collaborate closely with the Program Manager, Advisory Committee members, and WSPS business units to effectively implement the WSPS Advisory Program strategy, ensuring the successful delivery of key initiatives and the successful completion of all deliverables in alignment with organizational goals.
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, able to work independently with minimal supervision while adeptly prioritizing tasks to meet the dynamic demands within the division and respond effectively to Advisory Committee Member needs.
- Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills, enabling successful collaboration with diverse groups and ensuring that the objectives of each committee are not only met but exceeded.
- Work cross-functionally with internal departments, including Marketing, Finance, Customer Care, Operations, and Service Delivery, to achieve program objectives and ensure seamless integration of initiatives.
- Facilitate recruitment, retention and recognition strategies, including new AC program orientation for incoming members.
- Maintain accurate records of members, track attendance and prepare program attendance letters for various designations maintenance.
- Co-ordinate, track and execute annual outreach plan in alignment with organizational objectives for the AC member priorities.
- Coordinate all logistics for Advisory Committee in-person events and meetings, including venue selection, catering arrangements, agenda preparation, presentation organization, and on-site facilitation to ensure seamless execution.
- Set schedule and prepare agendas, meeting materials and action items for AC Executive and Sub-Sector committee meetings.
RELATIONSHIP BUILDING / EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL COMMUNICATION (25%)
- Build and sustain strong relationships with Advisory Committee members, system partners, and external associations to advance WSPS objectives.
- Serve as a trusted liaison, addressing inquiries promptly and connecting members with appropriate internal resources.
- Maintain ongoing communication to keep members informed of WSPS initiatives and Prevention System updates.
- Conduct industry and prevention system scans to identify emerging health and safety issues and provide actionable recommendations.
- Develop and manage content for internal and external platforms, including HUB updates, Hazard Maps, Sector Insights, and industry announcements.
- Partner with Marketing and Communications on recruitment campaigns and messaging strategies to attract and retain members.
PROGRAM REVIEW & EVALUATION (25%)
- Track and report program performance metrics in alignment with the corporate scorecard and Transfer Payment Agreement requirements, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Monitor Advisory Committee progress and maintain accurate records for reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with internal research to develop annual sub-sector injury analysis reports for the sub-sector meetings.
- Collaborate with Business Intelligence and other divisions to evaluate Advisory Committee impact against WSPS strategic objectives and funder requirements.
- Support development of Advisory Committee priorities, monitor progress, and update network maps to enhance outreach.
- Contribute to the Advisory Committee Annual Report, ensuring comprehensive documentation of achievements.
- Design and distribute surveys and consultations; analyze responses and deliver concise, insight-driven reports for committee review.
CONTRIBUTES TO A HEALTHY AND SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT (at all times)
- Complies with all Health and Safety policies, procedures and company rules established in WSPS Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).
- Contributes to promoting a healthy, safe, and respectful culture.
- Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
Skills and Experience
Minimum:
- Relevant post-secondary education
- 3-5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong relationship building skills and business acumen; excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all organizational levels
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Advanced knowledge in MS Teams meeting Platforms, Co-Pilot, Microsoft Forms.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and maintain administrative systems.
- Experience in researching and analyzing research using a variety of mediums, developing briefing notes with recommendations.
Preferred:
- 7+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the area of Event Management/ Project Management preferred
- This position requires occasional travel within the Mississauga area and thus it is preferred that candidates live within 150km of WSPS’ Head Office.
Additional Requirements:
- Candidates must live in Ontario, maintain a private and safe workspace, and have a high-quality internet connection.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Access to a vehicle that meets minimum MTO safety standards
- An all-employee meeting (Staff Days or equivalent) will be organized annually. All employees are required to attend the annual meeting in person. Occasional team meetings may be required in person.
- SLT and others involved in Board of Director meetings and/or committee work may be required to attend meetings in person from time to time, as needed.
- External meetings with stakeholders such as the Ministry will continue and those employees who attend as part of their role will continue to do so, in the meeting format preferred by the stakeholder.
